About the area
Attracted by the tall grass and mountain streams in the area known as South Willow Creek; a cattle rancher brought his cattle to graze around 1849. Satisfied by his success, the following year the rancher brought his family and his wife's brother's family to the area. By the end of 1852 as many as 20 families had settled in the area. with the opening of the first office two years later the town was named Drapersville. Fear of trouble with the natives caused the residents t start a fort where they lived for two years. The site of the fort as well as statues of early pioneers are now part of Draper Historical park. The city presents a series of free Summer concerts in this park. The Draper City amphitheater is the site of concerts, musical and dramatic shows and Summertime movie nights.
