This town had an inauspicious beginning in the Summer of 1847 when a group of men from a team of pioneers, led by the gentlemen for whom the town was named, decided to stay behind and Winter in dugouts along a free flowing, spring fed stream they had found. The following Spring they were joined by others who built homes in the area and named their settlement Holladay’s Burgh. It was not until around 1999 that the city of Holliday was incorporated. The growing population led to the establishment of two blacksmith shops, a mercantile co-op and a general store. The park located behind the Holladay city hall include baseball diamonds, a combined lacrosse and soccer field, pavilion, stage and the renovated of the historic Casto home. The fine arts show, which is held in city hall, runs for one week in February culminating in the presentation of awards, a reception and musical entertainment.
