| About the area |
South Salt Lake was created by a resolution of Salt Lake County in the Fall of 1938. Of all things the town was created because of the need of a sewer system by Salt Lake City. The sewer system was built by the Works Project Administration but only begin after incorporation of the town which was accomplished by a close vote around 1939. The Columbus center in town is equipped with classrooms, an auditorium and a gym.
