About the area |
The large number of historic homes and buildings in this city, founded in the Spring of 1852 as Allred Settlement, resulted in Spring City being listed on the National Historic Register. Among these are the Wiley Payne Allred house, the Bishop's storehouse, Spring City school, Spring City Endowment house, lLars and Petrea Larsen house and Jans Pedersen house. The town was also called Little Copenhagen and Canal before being named Spring City no doubt due to the the fresh water spring in the middle of town which is still flowing. The town is situated at the foot of the Wasatch Plateau in the Sanpete valley to the North and slightly West of Horseshoe mountain. It is laid out with broad streets oriented to the cardinal points. |
