About the area |
Emigrants from Great Britain made up most of the party of pioneers who came to a site North of present Day Heber City and camped there in the Spring of 1859. They called the site London for obvious reasons. Shortly thereafter a survey starting at what is now the North end of Heber City Main street was completed. When Wasatch County was created in 1862; the town was given its present name. Heber City gained recognition in 2014 when it was named No. 8 on the list of the Top 10 Small Towns by Livability.com. The Concerts in the Park series is held each Thursday night in the Summer in Main Street park at the Heber Valley Farmer's market. Heber Valley Western Music and Cowboy Poetry gathering which happens in the late fall features a Cowboy Poetry Express Train Chili lunch leaving from the depot, Cowboy Steak dinner and show at the Midway Town hall and Country and Western performances by different groups and performers. at different locations in town.
