About the area |
During the years 1824 through 1825, trappers employed by the the Ashley-Henry Fur company, spent time around the Pleasant View area. In the Fall of 1843 the explorer John C. Fremont stopped to take in the hot springs in Pleasant View. Around 1851, the first settlers took advantage of the suitable trees at the foot of Mount Ben Lomond, on the North edge of the present town, to built the first homes out of logs. The Pleasant View Heritage center, located on the lower level of city hall, displays historical items and photos of the city's early days and showcases a documentary film telling the story of the city's settlement. Pleasant View also celebrates a Founders Day to mark its beginnings. Among the city's parks; Pleasant View, Barker, Shady Lane and Wadman Nature; you can find boweries, baseball and soccerfields, a basketball court, a horse arena, playgrounds and wetlands where wildlife are encountered by walking the trails.
