Buckingham Magistrate is the magistrate court of Buckingham among those in the Tenth judicial district of Virginia.
About the area
The Housewright House, a Jeffersonian-era brick home, has been restored and now is the headquarters for Historic Buckingham, Incorporated and as the Housewright museum. Some of the rooms in this structure have the original authentic furnishings. Other areas in the museum are used for the display of antique farm tools, china dolls, clothing, historic documents and old commercial containers for foodstuff. A couple of miles East of Buckingham you can find the Historic Village at Lee Wayside. Rose Cottage on the property was a stagecoach stop. Also at this site are a tobacco barn, slate company office, general store, corn crib, smoke house, one room school, post office, slate roofed privy, a colonial garden and a pen for small animals all of which were moved here to create the village. The guides are usually dressed in period costumes. Demonstrations of soap, candle and apple butter making, quilting, children's games of long ago, outdoor food preparation and gardening are given on weekends.
