About the area |
There are two wonderful places to visit when you are in Chesapeake. One is the Chesapeake Arboretum. This park's trail system wanders through a mature hardwood forest with many varieties of trees and plants. The Arboretum headquarters, which is housed in an eighteenth century farmhouse is surrounded by theme gardens, including fragrance, antique rose gardens and several demonstration gardens. The other is the Planetarium where you can see the planets, moon and sky; explore the moon and depending on when you visit see the Africa Solar Eclipse of 2002, South Pacific Solar Eclipse of 2005, Mediterranean Solar Eclipse of 2006, Arctic Solar Eclipse of 2008, Japan/China Eclipse of 2009 or the Australia Total Eclipse of 2012. |
