Chesterfield County Magistrate is located in the Twelfth judicial circuit of Virginia.
About the area
Around 1611 approximately 300 settlers, sent by the Virginia Company of London established the City of Henricus, in Chesterfield county, along the James River. Today at Henricus Historical Park, which is a living history museum, there are structures resembling those of the original colony and people in period costume go about carrying out everyday chores of the original settlement. Reenactments of the relationship of the settlers and the Indians are played out each day. A visit to Magnolia Grange, the plantation home of the Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia and the 1892 Jail and museum next door are well worth it. The "First Contact"Â exhibit in the museum has life-size models of Capt. John Smith and Native American Chief Powhatan who was the father of Pocohontas. The exhibit also includes Native American artifacts. The General Store exhibit, with its antique lighting and hardwood floors, allows visitors to see what the retail store of the late 1800's and early 1900's looked like.
