Culpeper Magistrate is in the Sixteenth judicial circuit of Virginia.
About the area
The Virginia House of Burgesses first established the Town of Culpeper at the beginning of 1759. Culpeper has one of the largest National Register districts with over 140 buildings representative of Federal, Greek Revival and Victorian architectural styles. The Culpeper trolley runs through much of the town. The Burgandine House, circa 1800, is one of the oldest structures in the town of Culpeper and sits next the Culpeper museum. The museum has exhibits related to Culpeper's Civil War history, displays of dinosaur tracks discovered in a local quarry, American Indian artifacts and other items from the town's past. The Graffiti House, circa 1858, in the village of Brandy Station has been named thus because of the collection of charcoal graffiti left by Union and Confederate soldiers on the second floor walls. Not only did these men sign their names but also drew elaborate pictures of men and women and messages related to their units and their battles.
