Pearisburg Magistrate serves as the magistrate court of Giles county in the Twenty-Seventh judicial district of Virginia. This location is infrequently staffed and on those occasions when there is no staff hearings may be held at the Montgomery location in Christiansburg or the Pulaski office in Dublin which are fully staffed.
About the area
Perisburg is set in a mountainous region on a plateau with pasture and hayfields and steep, forested slopes. Originally called Giles Court House; the town was established as Perisburg around 1806 with the donation of approximately 50 acres by a landowner for whom the town is named. The town was laid out around a public square and by 1832 had a number of stone and timber homes, taverns, churches, public and private schools, general mercantiles, tanyards, a shoe factory, shops of hatters, cabinet and chair makers and professional offices for attorneys and a doctor. To celebrate the history of the town, the annual Perisburg Festival in the park is held each June.
