For lighthearted enjoyment you can relax in this city with a fishing day at Buckroe Fishing pier, a visit to Carousel park and a ride on its carousel or a day on a Miss Hampton II Harbor Cruise's double-decked tour boat with narrated cruises of the Hampton Roads harbor and Chesapeake Bay. More excitement among the crowds is provided by the annual Blackbeard festival at the and of May, beginning of June. You can bring the kids to see pirate event reenactments performed by actors accurately dressed in pirate costumes, explore a pirate ship, make pirate crafts, play pirate games and see puppet shows and take part in sea chantey sing alongs at the Little Swashbucklers Stage. There is also live musical entertainment and fireworks.
