About the area |
The facilities at Barnesfield park include softball fields, a little league field, concession stand, basketball courts, picnic pavilions, soccer fields, hiking area, nature trails, a playground and horseshoe pits. This park is the site of the annual Summer Fest held the first Sunday in June. Music is provided by a couple of bands and there are games, a petting zoo, lots of food and hot rods. Caledon State park is the Summer resting place of a large concentration of American bald eagles and many bird watchers come here to see them. In order to not harm the eagles, access to marshes and the Potomac River is limited. However, there is an opportunity to take a tour of the eagle habitat during the Summer season. The visitor center has exhibits related to bald eagles and if you bring lunch you can take advantage of its picnic areas and picnic shelter. |
