The annual Big Bad BBQ Battle in late August on the town square is an event eagerly awaited event especially for those who like eating barbecue. The competing teams are in the categories of ribs, butts, shoulders and brisket. The results are all for sale by the competitors. Monetary prizes and trophies are awarded for the Best of the Best winner, for first and second places in each of the three categories and for Showmanship. There is also entertainment, historic tours, a corn hole tournament, arts and crafts, a kid's zone, lots of food and plenty of barbecue. Another great event in this town is the annual Annual Boydton Day celebration in October marked by the Boydton Day Parade, food, music by several groups and street vendors. On this day feel free to indulge in Funnel cakes, deep fried Twinkies, Brunswick stew, barbeque and lemonade.
