Christiansburg Magistrate is the magistrate court for Montgomery county in the Twenty-Sixth judicial district of Virginia.
About the area
The Historic district, established around 1792, consists of several different buildings and streets. The Christiansburg Industrial Institute, which opened around 1866, was once a a private primary school for African-Americans and supervised by Booker T. Washington. There are three buildings remaining, one of which is a museum. The Cambria Historic District, located on Depot street, includes a railroad depot museum, collectibles and antique shop and specialty shops. On another street there is the Montgomery Museum and Lewis Miller Regional Art center. The Virginia & Tennessee Depot, which was constructed in Victorian Italianate style as well as the Montgomery Museum, being at least 100 years old, are in need of repair and restoration which awaits donation by some generous souls or residents. Come hear the Christiansburg Community Band at their Summer concert series in the the freight house of the depot. Seats are limited but you can bring a chair and sit on the street side of the depot.
