There is much to see and do in this historic city by the sea. If you get tired of visiting the Mariners' museum and USS Monitor center with its full-scale replica of the Monitor and over 35,000 maritime paintings or the Virginia Living museum with its red wolves, bald eagles, a loggerhead sea turtle, fish with no eyes and frogs that change colors and cypress swamp and a mountain cove exhibits; you can visit its historic homes and neighborhoods such as Historic Hilton Village of close to 500 English cottage-style homes or North End/Huntington Heights lots of beautiful 1920's homes. For some classy and world class entertainment there is the Ella Fitzgerald theater in the Downing-Gross Cultural Arts center and the Christopher Newport Universityâs Ferguson Center for the Arts. |
