Dublin Magistrate serves Pulaski county in the Twenty-Seventh judicial district of Virginia.
About the area
The first settler erected a cabin here around 1776. It took 34 years before another cabin was erected by a settler to the area. Much of the land in the area remained wooded as late as 1850. All this changed when three settlers gave three acres of land to the railroad to build a depot, round house, turntable, wood house, switches and a well. In the Summer of 1854, the railroad began to bring passengers and shortly thereafter freight. The depot now became a transportation and communication hub to which different livestock farmers came such as those who raised cattle, horses, turkeys and pigs. It was not unusual to see covered wagons lined up to unload goods from the trains bound for county merchants. With the location of the New River Community college here the town has a bit of the college town atmosphere. The school's sports teams provide a great opportunity for residents to see games played at the schools facilities and Randolph park.
