About the area

This city with a splendid sports complex, sports fields and parks takes time out each year for the week and a half long Salem fair held in early July at the fairgrounds. The city also plays host to the annual Roanoke Valley Horse show in June at the Salem Civic center. This show is sponsored by the by the Roanoke Valley Horsemen's Association and is a professional sporting event with more than $250,000 in total cash and prizes.
