Lady Rebecca Staunton is the inspiration of this city's name founded back in the middle 1700's. The city's incorporation took place more than a hundred years after this community's foundation. The community of Staunton has many notable sons and daughters who have represented the values and morals of this city with excellence: J. DeJarnette, W. Haines and others.
