The last community incorporating into the topography of this county was the independent city of Bristol. Abingdon is the county seat since the late 1700's. Less than 2000 residents would welcome any visitor into this rural community, home of the Martha Washington College for almost a hundred years; a private female school promoting the equality of genders. I-81 gallops along southward from Blacksburg on its way into Tennessee. |
