About the area

This is not Vancouver BC but it comes close. In 1792 an officer serving under Capt. George Vancouver named a point of land he discovered along the shore of the Columbia in honor of his commander. In the first half of the 19th century, Fort Vancouver was the center of all fur trading in the Pacific Northwest. Vancouver Barracks is a restored military post which existed from 1849 to 1947. Here there is a row of officers quarters that have been restored. The flagship quarters are the Gen. Marshall House and the Gen. Grant House. If only they had the General Lee car.
