About the area |
The Cowlitz County Museum has exhibits dating back to the establishment of Kelso in the late
1800' s. The exhibits include a Toutle River pioneer cabin and Native American artifacts. Each year the city commemorates its history with the Highlander Festival to honor its Scottish roots during Labor Day weekend. The three-day festival includes a local version of the traditional Scottish Highlander games. Lower Columbia College; a 2 year community college is located in the area and is part of the state community college system.
