About the area |
Auburn is located near where the Green and White rivers used to meet. The area was originally home to three Indian tribes. What was once an area populated by explorers and traders soon became a farming community. At the beginning of the 1900's the Seattle-Tacoma Interurban line went through Auburn allowing farmers to get their product to the markets. The railroad and better roads allowed many new companies to set up business in Auburn, among them the Borden Condensery (which made Borden's Condensed Milk. Must be a reason the biggest condensed milk companies (Carnation and Borden) were in Washington state. They must have had great cows there.Be sure to visit Les Gove Park in July. Annual free outdoor concerts and childrenâs entertainment series are held here. |
