About the area |
Granger, like many of the nearby cities, was incorporated in 1909. It is located where the Satus Creek and the Yakima River meet; as a result the Yakama indians found the location to their liking. However at the beginning of the 20th century the railroads reached Granger, bringing in settlers to the Yakima valley. Bricks and tiles were manufactured in Granger until the 1960's. When in Granger you might think you are back in pre-historic times with the life-size dinosaurs located throughout the city. This effort was prompted by the discovery of Wooly Mammoth bones in a local clay mine. To the delight of Cherry lovers; each year the city holds a Cherry festival replete with music and a parade. |
