About the area

A piece of Sputnik4 landed on Main Street in 1962. A cast was made before it was returned to Russia and it was displayed at the beautiful Queen Anne style Rahr West Art Museum. This city on Lake Michigan and the Manitowoc River has many museums and parks. Skiing skating, and snowbiling are some of the winter sports here. The Family Aquatic Center is due to open in June of 2010. US 540 crosses the city.
