About the area |
Sparta is known as the Bicycling Capital of America. The Elroy-Sparta and LaCrosse River bike trails were created from converted rail beds. It is near Ft. McCoy, the largest military base in the State. There's a Sparta Municipal Golf Course and River Run Golf Course. It is the home of astronaut "Deke" Slayton. If you are here in June, don't miss the annual Sparta Butterfest with a milking contest, carnival rides and lots more. I90 and WI 16, 21, 27 and 71 will get you here. |
