Hayward is a popular vacation and second home area known for its crystal clear lakes. It's on the Namekagon River and boasts snowmobile trails, golf courses. There's a National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame and restaurants offer Friday night fish fries. Events include Honor the Earth PowWow, Musky Festival, Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival (for road mountain bikers), cross country ski and snowcross events and the Lumberjack World Championships.
