| About the area |
Waukesha is on the Fox River and south if I 94. Now it has a tougher drunk driving law which criminalizes the first offense when a child is a passenger. For a fourth offense, it is now a felony, not a misdemeanor. However it is the only state where a first offense of driving while intoxicated is treated like a traffic ticket. It has been named as one of the 100 Best Places to Live and one of the Best communities for Young People. Recently there have been two two cases regarding sex offenses. One got 35 years for luring troubled teens into sex and drugs and another, a teen, used a sex scam on Facebook and faces up to 50 years maximum in prison. The city received 1st place in a 2009 Lead-Safe...for Kids' Sake Program for its plans to make the community lead safe and was awarded $150,000. Carroll University founded in 1846 is the oldest college in the US. The U of Wisconsin campus here awards 2-year degrees. |
