About the area |
Belington lies along the banks of the Tygart Valley River. A reenactment takes place in July of each year in Belington to commemorate the Battle of Laurel Hill, one of the first land battles of the Civil war. Cannon fire and cultural music are the norm at this event. A real winner for family enjoyment is each year's Barbour County fair held here the last week of August. There are the usual demolition derby, lawn tractor pull, car show, queen's pageant, 4-H livestock shows, rides and games. Bracketing it all is live entertainment and a parade. |
