About the area

Towards the end of of July the town of West Union holds its Fest to celebrate the anniversary of the town. Like these festivals in many other towns this one has its parade. However this one besides having an Honor guard and fire trucks has Outhouse floats. There is the Judging of the Outhouse Float with the winning presentation at the Wall of Honor immediately after the parade. Two other contests are also featured in this event; the best costume contest and the FishFest fishing contest. The latter is held at the towns fishing pond and contestants use barbless hooks to catch and release with some great prizes such as fishing rods and reel combinations, lures, assorted tackle and a tackle box.
