The first settlers to come to Petersburg around 1745 were German immigrants. When the area in which the city was located became Hardy County around 1786, Petersburg became the trading center for this section of the county. In the summer of 1910 the city was incorporated in what was now Grant county although it had been the county seat since about 1870. The Spring Mountain Festival is held in April of each year. There is live entertainment, arts and craft vendors, rides, games, food vendors, flea market and civil war train rides. The antique car, truck, tractor and motorcycle shows award prizes for the best in each show. The festival also holds a parade and you won't want to miss banjo and fiddle contest or you might to take part in it. |
