About the area |
Around 1919, two men who owned the Imperial Smokeless Coal Company founded Quinwood which was named from a combination of their names. Two years later the streets of the town were laid out. It was basically a coal camp but twenty six years later it was incorporated. The Miners' Memorial park is now where the company once stood. You would not describe the town as elegant but the Hill Top Restaurant still remains as a popular spot especially known for their hot dogs.
