About the area |
Once the scene of Native American villages; followed by settlers from Europe who were willing to endure the hardships and battles with the natives to carve out farms for themselves. You won't be sorry if you visit the East River Mountain Overlook for its terrific views of the area during any of its four colorful seasons. The same thing is true of the Cole Chevy Mountain Festival held here each May. You won't be alone; more than 35,000 people attend this event. A carnival is always a mainstay of the event and there is the elite chainsaw carving and lumberjack show to see. The kids should like the petting zoo and everybody should enjoy the great live musical entertainment. Concessions, food and non food vendors and a flea market are also a part of this festival. |
