About the area

The residents of St. Marys have several venues to go to for their recreational enjoyment. The St. Marys Marina is the site for fishing, boating and community events and has a kids playground adjoining it. The Pleasant County's swimming pool also has a playground next to it. There is a third playground in the city conveniently located next to an elementary school. The city annually celebrates the first shipment of Vidalia onions from Georgia to St. Marys with its Vidalia Onion festival. This festival not only has an onion eating contest; but also features a "Best Pie in Pleasants County" contest and a fruit, cream and nut pies auction. There are inflatables for the kids to bounce around on and vendors if you want to spend your hard earned cash on some nice reasonably priced items.
