About the area

The Pocahontas County Historical Society’s Museum displays photographs and exhibits of artifacts, implements and equipment representing the history of Pocahontas county. It is housed in the Hunter family home which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and which was purchased and renovated by the society in the early 1960's. A log cabin, circa 1835, was moved and located here. Hard to believe, but this one room cabin and the loft above was once home to a family of nine. The museum is open only during the Summer months.
