Whether you are traveling North or East out of Pennsboro, you can take SR 74 and US 50 lies a few miles to the South.
About the area
The early settlers to Pennsboro were a couple from Harrison county who built a log Cabin along the stream which runs through Pennsboro at the beginning of the 19th century. At about the same the Stone House construction was started but not finished until 15 years later. The Northwest Turnpike, which passed in front of the Stone House, and several years later the arrival of the Baltimore & Ohio railroad contributed to the development of the town. With the construction of US 50 to the South of town, in the 1960's, many local businesses fell on hard times and eventually the railroad tracks were removed. However, the memory of the railroads existence is kept alive in town at the Pennsboro B & O Railroad Depot - Railroad museum. Saved from demolition by a group of citizens and added to the National Register of Historic Places; the museum now displays artifacts of this time in railroad history such as old signs, telegraph keys, various sized rails and nails, and a wooden mail cart used to deliver mail from the depot to the post office.
