About the area |
This town of under 300 people is located where the Blackwater River and the Dry Fork tributary of the Cheat river meet and form the Black Fork tributary. The lower part of the Dry Fork is an excellent intermediate training run for kayakers and a surfer's paradise with numerous holes, waves, creeks entering from both sides and several waterfalls cascading into the water. The run is comparatively safe with little in the way of large boulders, undercuts, strainers or recirculating holes.
