Editing Your Profile

How to edit your profile, choose counties and courts, etc.

By Warren Redlich

The first thing you should do after joining the Traffic Court Lawyers Club is edit your profile. You put in information about yourself and choose up to four counties and courts. The site will then list you in the directory for those counties and courts.

You edit your profile by clicking on the "Edit My Profile" link on the left side of the page ... or you can click here.

The first part of the profile should be easy. Put in your name, your firm name, and contact information. Do not put your name in ALLCAPS. If you do it will be changed to Title Case (when we get to it). Most things are optional - the site will tell you if you left out something that is required.

If you have a website, you should put the "url" for it in the Website box. A url generally looks like http://www.something.com. For "Web Link Text", choose a word or phrase that describes your site.

If you don't have a website, your profile page will become your web page. This will make it easier for people to find you on the internet.

You can choose up to five areas of law that you handle.

For the Description field, you can just type simple text. This is where you describe what you do, who you are, or whatever else you want to say. The editing software allows you to use formatting, links, etc. Don't get carried away.

Next, you choose your home county and, if you want, your home court. You can choose up to three other counties and a court for each county. As the site currently works, it is generally best to choose four different counties - this will list you on more pages of the site. We haven't figured out a better way yet, but we are thinking about it.

Finally, you can upload a picture of yourself. A few people have had problems with this. If you have a problem uploading your picture, e-mail it to me (wredlich@gmail.com) and I will upload it for you.

After you've edited your profile, click the "Update" button and your profile will go live on the site. Take a look at it and click the Edit My Profile link to make changes.
