A pioneer road was cut through in the 1700's, but no settlers arrived until 1820. Now, NYS rtes 248 & 417 interest nearby, with access to the hamlets of Benetts, Greenwood, West Greenwood and Rough & Ready.

ABOUT THE AREA

Formed in 1827 from the towns of Canisteo & Troupsburg, Greenwood became an early center for salt production. Greenwood Hill is the highest point in the NYS highway system.
