Asa & Uriah Nash, area's 1st settlers, near Nash Lake (Cinnamon Lake) & Hornby Lake. Andrew B. Dickinson, town's 1st supervisor, created a stage coach route to Corning. He built a 1st class hotel in the City of Corning, the present site of the Baron Steuben Building. A US Senator, he was appointed ambassador to Nicaragua by Lincoln, and served til his death in the 1870s. The Town Planning Committee issued a Statement of Rural Rights, the people choosing to remain rural, residential & agricultural. As a result, the state forest & county parks are good for hunting, forestry & wildlife habitat. Hiking trails interconnect with trails on state land. Diverse habitats are maintained - wetlands, lakes, ponds, stream corridors, meadows & mixed forest land. Less than 2000 people in Hornby. Not the tiniest, but a small town for sure.
