ABOUT THE AREA
Dutch people that hunted settle Callicoon in the 1600's. The Delaware River served as a means of travel during that time and as a route to transport goods. The Erie Railroad opened up there in the 1840's bring new produce and meat town. Callicoon was a thriving area then and today some the old buildings from that era still stand. The old school house, a building that used to be saloon, and an old hotel. Callicoon is trying to create new jobs for its population today and is attracting new and old to the area.
