The only major roads in this city are US 1 and SR's 17 and 73.

Rockland enjoys a wonderful waterfront lying along the body of water, Rockland harbor which is formed from Penobscot bay. Rockland Harbor and its lighthouse are protected by a nearly mile-long granite breakwater enabling shipping and recreational boating at this city. Lobster lovers (that is those who eat them) will want to visit this city in early August. That is when the Maine Lobster Festival is held here. Although there is a Lobster Cooking contest; there's more to this festival than that. There is a Juried Art show, entertainment, a parade, a road race and yes there are tons of food.
