US Hway 2 and SR 17, SR 108 and SR 120 are the major routes running through Rumford.

Like many of the cities in Maine; Rumford has a beautiful waterway running through it, the Androscoggin river. The Hosmer Athletic Field complex is located along a smaller stream off this river, the Swift river. This complex is the site of Mountain Valley High School track and field meets, tennis matches, baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse, football, and field hockey games. If you are a sports fan this is great place to go to see sports at its purest. In the late 1970’s the Rumford Historical Society opened the Lufkin School Museum in a former school granted to the society by the town of Rumford. Here you will find displays of local artifacts, photos, and books, a Country store exhibit and old tools representative of the history of the area.
