Motor through these parts on US 201, Sr 11, SR104 or SR137 but be careful to obey the rules. IS 95 is located to the west of the city.

Waterville is situated along the Western bank of the Kennebec river. The Mesalonskee Stream which runs through town snakes around Thrushwood park which lies in the Southeast part of the city. The park is great place to relax and even has a water fall in it. There are a lot of people living in this town, over 16,000, but they have plenty of room to spread out; about 14 square miles. The first permanent settlement of the area was established in the middle of the 18th century. The first dam was built in the area on the Mesalonskee, for operating a grain mill and a saw mill. This was followed by the construction of numerous mills on the Mesalonskee. The city prospered and fishing was also an important source of revenues for the town with large catches of salmon, shad and alewives.
