There is only one major road accessible to the residents of West Bath, US1 which runs through the South end and can be reached from New Meadows road which is the main street of the town.
ABOUT THE AREA
West Bath is a long narrow city spreading out over almost 12 square miles but has only a little over 1,700 residents. It is a suburb of Bath. With the New Meadows river at its side; in the 1850’s it was an ideal spot for a gristmill, sawmill and clapboard, shingle and lath manaufacture. The Hamilton Sanctuary is located on a little over 70 acres on a peninsula between the New Meadows River and Back Cove. Here there are opportunites to see Great Blue Herons, Osprey, and migrant shorebirds and waterfowl.
