The Coosa river splits up the city. SR 212 and SR 111 merge in the Western part of the city to cross over the river at East Bridge street connecting both parts of the city. US 231 hugs the Eastern edge of the city.
ABOUT THE AREA
A visit to Fort Toulouse-Jackson National Historic Park is great chance to experience the local culture as it was transformed over the many years. You can tour the French and American Forts or the Mississipian Mound site. Then be sure to stroll through the William Bartram Arboretum. Volunteers dressed as French Marines at Fort Toulouse, or the Tennessee Militia and the U.S. Army Regulars at Fort Jackson take part in living history weekends. Each year the Coosa River Paddling Club sponsors the Coosa River Whitewater Festival.
