This city is located in the scenic, southern foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The French explorer came through the area in the early 1700's. His discovery of a palisade village built around 1000 led the French to establish Fort Toulouse as a military outpost and trading center with the area becoming an important trade hub for the entire area which continues to the present. Gold Star Park along the Coosa river is the site in April and May of the hugely popular Brown Bag Concerts. If you can imagine a playground with 40 different events then you would be in the facility recently added to the park. This park is also the site of the city's Fourth of July celebration.
