SR 75 and SR 117 criss cross in town and CR 140 provides a way to get to IS 59 in the East.

Life is pretty tranqil in town or will have to be with no police chief or any full-time officers working in this city of about 700. The mayor is hoping this will change; may be to catch the traffic violators. Apparently there were enough officers available recently to make an arrest of a Slyvania councilman for disorderly conduct at the Mule Day Festival. THis event held each year in September is a celebration of Sand Mountain’s rich agricultural heritage. The activities include a parade of mules, horses, carriages, antique cars and tractors. There's also lots of food and Drink, childrens events, fun and games, art and craft events and show and of course entertainment,
