Visitors won't go hungry in Centre if they visit in February during Taste of Cherokee. This fiesta is held annually in February when restaurants and delicatessens go all out to serve their special dishes. All the while the crowd is entertained by local singers and dancers. On the first Saturday in October, downtown shuts down for the Fall Festival. Main Street is closed for several blocks for this street party. A parade begins led by the Cherokee County Marching Band and costumed participants are joined by local saddle clubs on their horses or in carriages. Other groups demonstrating along the parade route add to the festivities. Sample homemade food such as barbecue, cookies, cakes, funnel cakes, pickles are offered at booths alng Main street as well as arts and crafts, antiques, clothing, plants, jewelery, and specialty items. But don't forget to stop and enjoy the entertainment provided by local bands.
