ABOUT THE AREA
Sardis City as a community actually started in the 1880's when the Sardis Baptist Church started holding meetings in a brush arbor in the area. The town was first called Sardis for the church; but later changed to Sardis City upon incorporation in the 1960's to avoind confusion with another town of the same name. Incorporation was completed with about 200 residents in oder to gain permission to name a water board to provide for water supply to the area.
